The Duke basketball team is moving on and is currently visiting the Blue Devils.

A few weeks ago, the Duke basketball staff started showing interest in Braydon Hawthorne, a 6-foot-8, 190-pound four-star who has since visited his Huntington Prep School (W.Va.). The goal was to find another versatile forward to help fill out the fourth roster under Jon Scheyer’s command.

Hawthorne was welcomed to Durham for an official visit that began on Friday.

Duke appear to be leading the race for Hawthorne’s services, not only that but his stock also appears to be on the rise. Hawthorne still sits outside the top 100 on the 247Sports 2025 Composite. But the No. 105 ranking there marks a rise of 142 spots since early December. Moreover, 247Sports alone stacks him up at No. 71 overall.

Braydon Hawthorne, meanwhile, is currently the third-highest uncertain prospect at On3, ranking No. 35 among his 2025 peers, a 13-notch increase from March.

Hawthorne, who retracted his signing with the Mountaineers in late March after first committing to West Virginia, has also recently traveled to Pitt, Kentucky, and Virginia Tech.

In addition to a few returning players and possibly some incoming transfer gems, Duke basketball already boasts a stellar 2025 recruiting class that includes three five-star players: forward Nikolas Khamenia of Harvard-Westlake School (Calif.) and the twins Cameron and Cayden Boozer of Columbus High School (Fla.).
