View: Rangers take significant step to bring Igamane replacement to Ibrox

Rangers appear to be wasting no time in replacing Hamza Igamane, who appears set to join Lille.

The Ligue 1 side are close to signing Igamane and are working with Gers to find the right fee.

The 22-year-old moved to Ibrox last summer and the Light Blues are now set to make a hefty profit on his sale.

The timing appears to be convenient as the Como winger could effectively replace Igamane by bringing a dynamic skill set that aligns with Russell Martin’s attacking philosophy.

Igamane shone in his debut 2024/25 season, scoring 16 goals in 46 appearances, but his move to Lille necessitates a versatile replacement.

Ballet offers pace, dribbling, and creativity suited for the wing in Martin’s 4-3-3 system and is capable of playing as a striker as well.

The 24-year-old’s ability to exploit one-on-one situations mirrors Igamane’s flair, enabling him to stretch defences and create chances.

Max Aarons and Ballet can for a good partnership on the right for Rangers

Martin can maximise Ballet’s potential by pairing him with an overlapping full-back like Max Aarons, enhancing flank play.

While Ballet’s goal output is lower, his adaptability to cut inside or deliver crosses complements Rangers’ need for a versatile forward.

Aarons is capable of playing that ultra-attacking full-back role and a good partnership with Ballet would undoubtedly benefit the side.

With targeted coaching to improve his finishing, Ballet could fill Igamane’s void, offering a cost-effective, high-potential option to maintain Gers’ attacking threat in the Scottish Premiership and European competitions.
