Hamza Igamane medical ‘nonsense’ blasted as Rangers star exit news emerges

Hamza Igamane has been linked with a move away from Rangers all summer.

The Moroccan bagged 16 goals last season, but it’s widely believed he’ll be sold to raise funds for other new signings.

Despite manager Russell Martin barely getting his foot in the door, it would appear the decision has already been made to move Igamane on.

This news has split the Rangers fanbase, with many pundits and supporters believing he still has plenty to offer.

With that said, a lot of media speculation surrounding the forward has proven to be wide of the mark.

Hamza Igamane medical blasted as ‘nonsense’

LOSC Lille have emerged as the favourites to sign Igamane. The Ligue 1 side are losing striker Jonathan David on a free transfer, and Igamane fits the mould as an exciting replacement for their main man.

Rangers are supposedly looking for £15million for their 22-year-old striker. That would represent a serious profit on a player bought for around £2m last summer, although it’s unclear whether Lille have matched their valuation.

Soccer212, a publication specialising in Moroccan football, insists that Igamane is currently taking a medical in France.

However, Daily Record journalist Scott McDermott has replied to the publication’s tweet, saying: “For what I’m hearing, this is nonsense.”

Either way, it seems to now be a question of when Igamane will leave and how much Rangers can get for him.

Martin will need to spend well to replace Igamane and Dessers

Rangers are also open to selling Cyriel Dessers if a club matches their valuation of £5m for the Nigerian striker.

These are bold moves, as many consider both Dessers and Igamane to be good enough to help restore glory to Ibrox.

The Ibrox club will have to replace these strikers if they are sold, and it will be interesting to see what type of forwards are targeted.

Ultimately, the decision to sell Igamane and Dessers will be judged based on the quality of their replacements. The money will have to be reinvested well.

If Martin brings in strikers who don’t hit the ground running, this could be deemed a transfer window disaster. Both Igamane and Dessers have the talent to excel in other European leagues.

It’s high stakes as Martin looks to build a squad capable of knocking Celtic off their perch.
