Rangers may be set for a boost in their transfer pursuit of Metinho.
The Gers are in the market to add to their squad, having already brought in Russell Martin, prepared for the Scottish Premiership campaign.
This is likely to see a number of signings make their way through the doors in Govan, something which has already started with Max Aarons on loan.
There is every chance that a move for Metinho could be on the cards this summer as Troyes look to part ways with the midfielder this summer.
Rangers face competition for Metinho signing
It is fair to say that the new Light Blues boss has looked to use his prior links to the English Premier League to push some business over the line.
This looks likely to see Joe Rothwell and Conor Coady come in within hours, but the G51 outfit aren’t stopping there in the market.
As a result, an approach for the Brazilian at Troyes is in the pipeline, with a move away from the French outfit now looking possible.
The Daily Record reported on 2 July (page 51) that the Ligue 2 side are “certain” to part ways with the 22-year-old before the window ends.
Rangers are in the running to sign Metinho, but now face competition from Swiss champions Basel, who spent last season on loan in the Super League.
The RotBlau are keen on bringing the Brazilian back to St. Jakob-Park, with their sports director, Daniel Stucki, speaking out on the potential signing.
He said: “It’s no secret that we want to sign Metinho permanently. Negotiations with his club are still ongoing. We want to start the season with three or four proven midfielders. We need to strengthen.”
Rangers must beat Basel to Metinho deal

There is no doubt that Rothwell will prove to be a positive signing this summer, but further additions wouldn’t go amiss in midfield.
To bring in some Brazilian flair alongside the Englishman could be a huge positive after a largely successful season with Basel last time out.
It will be interesting to see if the Gers can convince the ex-Fluminense man of a move to Ibrox as opposed to a Switzerland return.
If Martin and Kevin Thelwell can work some magic, the Light Blues could be adding a bit of samba rhythm to their side, ready for the new campaign.
