ACC Reveals 2025-26 Men’s Basketball Conference Matchups

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men’s basketball team will face both Duke and Syracuse in home-and-away matchups during the 2025-26 season, the ACC announced today with the release of each team’s conference opponents. Under the league’s new scheduling format, teams will play 18 conference games: two games each against a permanent rival—Duke for UNC—and a rotating opponent—Syracuse in this cycle—along with seven home games and seven road games against 14 other programs.

Carolina’s home slate will feature games against Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. On the road, the Tar Heels will travel to Cal, Georgia Tech, Miami, NC State, SMU, Stanford, and Virginia.

In a notable shift, UNC will not host NC State in Chapel Hill for the first time since 1919. Additionally, the 2025-26 season will mark UNC’s first road games at Cal, SMU, and Stanford since those programs joined the ACC. The Tar Heels last played at Cal in 1972, at SMU in 1986, and at Stanford in 2017. They also faced Cal in Oakland in 1998.

Each ACC team will skip one opponent per season, and UNC will not face Boston College in 2025-26.

The full 18-game conference schedule will run from late December through the first Saturday in March, with complete details—including dates, times, and TV coverage—to be announced in September. The partial 2025-26 schedule is available now, with additional non-conference matchups to be added later.
