Why the ‘great’ Southampton player must return to the starting lineup for Hull City.

Southampton will try to strengthen their cause for automatic promotion on Tuesday night. The Saints will play their game in hand over second-place Leeds United when they visit Hull City at St Mary’s. A win over the Tigers would take Russell Martin’s side above the Whites, one point ahead of Daniel Farke’s side in the standings. With the visitors vying for a spot in the Championship’s top six, they will undoubtedly pose a difficult challenge for Southampton. As a result, some may argue that should consider reintroducing one player in particular to his starting lineup for this encounter. Why should Joe Aribo start for Southampton? For much of this calendar year, the Saints have been without Joe Aribo in midfield. The 27-year-old has been abroad with Nigeria for the Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped his country reach the final. He...

Must accept… The 23-year-old Leeds player admitted that he needs to work on his physique and bravery in tackles.

Since their departure in the summer, Leeds United’s loanees have had a mixed experience.   Following relegation, a number of the Whites‘ first-team players left the club, with two already securing permanent  deals abroad. Robin Koch signed a four year contract with  Eintracht Frankfurt  in January,  and Luis  Sinisterra  joined Bournemouth on a long-term contract worth roughly £20 million earlier this month. However, for some, their future remains uncertain, and there is still work to be done if they wish to leave Leeds permanently, like Brenden Aaronson, who scored his first goal at club level since August 2023 at the weekend.  But that hasn’t stopped Union Berlin director Oliver Ruhnert from telling him where he has to improve, as analyst Derek Rae reported on X earlier this week. Aaronson explained where he needs to improve. He stated, “With Brenden, it boils down to the essential theme. Brenden is a terrific footballer who must recognize that in football, a certain physical aspect is required to win the ball and battle challenges. These statements will come as no surprise to Leeds fans, and it is certainly not the first time he has faced such criticism in the recent 18-24 months.

“I know what’s right” – Player on his choice to join Tottenham and anticipated ‘bitterness’ from elsewhere

Tottenham Hotspur beat Barcelona to sign Lucas Bergvall. Spurs signed the 18-year old from Swedish  side  Djurgårdens IF earlier this month.  He will join the club in the summer. Prior to agreeing to a deal with Ange Postecoglou’s side, the midfielder traveled to Barcelona to meet with them and inspect their facilities. The Spanish press later accused him of exploiting the La Liga club to obtain a bigger offer from Tottenham. Former Barcelona scout Bojan Krkić Sr criticized Bergvall for allegedly having his mother and girlfriend influence his decision to join Spurs. Speaking to Sportbladet, the Sweden international stated unequivocally that he is not concerned with these rumors.   “I don’t spend much time on it. They can write and say whatever they want. I...

Leeds United: Frustration for Farke as bid to reconcile Whites boss with ‘excellent’ ex-Norwich player rebuffed

Leeds United were apparently unsuccessful in their recent effort to sign Besiktas winger Milot Rashica, who formerly played for Norwich City under manager Daniel Farke. After being relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, the Whites appear to be on track for an immediate return to the top division after being undefeated. Leeds presently hold the second automatic promotion spot in the Championship table, two points ahead of fellow promotion contenders Southampton, having won all eight league games in 2024. Connor Roberts, a Welsh international full-back, was the lone first-team signing at Elland Road during the January transfer window, joining on loan from Burnley until the end...
