Cooper Flagg’s Mom Was Silent About the Big Duke Announcement

The Duke Blue Devils’ excellent run under head coach Jon Scheyer

just marked the end of the collegiate basketball season. Before losing to Houston, Scheyer guided the program to a 35-4 record, which helped Duke win the ACC Tournament and go to the Final Four. After defeating Alabama, Arizona, Baylor, and Mount St. Mary’s, the Blue Devils dominated for a large portion of the season. Cooper Flagg, the Duke Blue Devils’ star player, is leaving for the 2025 NBA Draft following a strong season.

Flagg left a lasting impression on the floor, but the rookie also made an impression off the court, according to Duke. Flagg was named to the 2024–25 All-ACC Academic Team by the Duke Blue Devils. According to Duke’s website, student-athletes who have a 3.0 cumulative average across their academic career and a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester, as well as who have participated in at least 50% of their team’s games, are selected to the All-ACC Academic Team.

During his rookie season with the Duke Blue Devils, Flagg not only established himself as a star off the court but also had outstanding stats inside the white lines.

In each of the five main statistical categories, Flagg led the Blue Devils. 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game were recorded by the former No. 1 overall recruit. Flagg won the Wooden Award and Naismith Player of the Year to cap off his freshman year at Duke.
