Leeds United’s chances of signing Kostas Tsimikas this summer may be boosted by reports suggesting Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
Tsimikas has emerged as a potential transfer target for Leeds, who are likely to need a new first-choice left-back if Junior Firpo departs when his contract ends in the coming weeks. The Daily Mail initially reported Leeds’ interest in the Greek defender, and Liverpool correspondent Lewis Steele provided a new update on Wednesday via his personal YouTube channel.

Steele mentioned Leeds as one of three clubs monitoring Tsimikas, alongside Spain’s Valencia and French club Lille. He noted: “I’d estimate there’s about an 80 to 85 percent chance Tsimikas leaves this summer. While he hasn’t been flawless, he’s something of a cult hero within the squad. It’ll be sad to see him go, but with Liverpool pursuing Kerkez, the timing feels right.”
Liverpool’s interest in Kerkez appears to be a major factor in the club’s willingness to part with a left-back, with either Tsimikas or veteran Andy Robertson expected to depart. Talks over the Bournemouth defender are reportedly gaining momentum ahead of the transfer window’s official opening on June 1.

Kerkez has been Liverpool’s top target at left-back since before the season ended, and the Hungarian international could cost around £40 million. Negotiations with Bournemouth are ongoing, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared an encouraging update.
In a post on X, Romano stated: “Milos Kerkez has already agreed to join Liverpool – personal terms are no issue. Talks with Bournemouth are progressing. Liverpool are also working on a deal for Florian Wirtz but remain in constant contact over Kerkez. The deal is very much on.”
Liverpool appear set to reinforce key positions during the short initial window from June 1 to June 10. If the Kerkez signing goes through, it would likely pave the way for Tsimikas to leave in search of more regular playing time once the main transfer window opens on June 16.
Tsimikas, who recorded two assists in 29 appearances last season, recently celebrated winning the Premier League and shared an emotional farewell message with Liverpool fans. On Instagram, he wrote: “As a child kicking a ball in Greece, I never imagined this day – lifting the Premier League trophy as a Liverpool player.
“These five years have taught me the true meaning of never walking alone. This city, this club, and these fans have been with us every step. I’m filled with pride and gratitude. We’ve overcome everything together. The Greek Scouser’s heart will always be with Liverpool.”
