Five teams now want to sign Rangers flops, which is just as crucial as selling Propper

When Glasgow Rangers kick off the 2025–26 season, head coach Russell Martin is expected to introduce a new style of play to Ibrox.

Next season, the Gers will aim to dominate possession and break down teams thanks to the former Scotland international’s ball-dominant style of play.

However, some players will have to leave to make room for new players in order to assemble a team that fits the style of play that the former Southampton manager desires.

Center-back Robin Propper is one player that appears to be leaving Ibrox, as it was recently reported in his own Netherlands that he has agreed to a three-year contract to return to FC Twente.

The Dutch behemoth is ‘likely’ to depart the team, according to the Rangers Review, with interest in Leicester City center defender Conor Coady as a potential replacement.

Why the Rangers made the right decision in selling Robin Propper

Rangers and the defender both benefit from this suggested return to FC Twente, as the defender did not fit in well on the field at Ibrox.

An obvious issue early in his tenure in Glasgow was that Propper did not demonstrate in his performances that he was prepared for the toughness of the Scottish Premiership.

Derek Ferguson, a former Gers midfielder, criticized the center-back after he lost 100% (2/2) of his duels against St. Johnstone and was replaced at halftime.

The BBC Sportsound analyst stated: “Propper is having difficulties. Over the past few weeks, he has made it clear that he is struggling in our league. The question was posed to him early on. Seeing him struggle that much is really concerning. He’s already searching for a way out, based on his body language.

The 31-year-old center-back lost most of his duels on the deck and in the air, indicating that he also found it difficult to handle the physicality of European football in the Europa League, as shown in the table above.

These figures, along with the criticism of his performance in the Premiership, show why it is in everyone’s best interests to permit him to return to the Netherlands.

However, another jerk is drawing interest from other places, so Propper might not be the only first-team player to leave Ibrox before the Martin era officially begins on the field.

Five teams are interested in a Rangers forward deal.
The Daily Record claims that during the summer transfer window, several teams are expressing interest in Rangers winger Ross McCausland.

According to the article, OH Leuven, Cardiff City, FC Cincinnati, Plymouth Argyle, and Basel are all considering making a move for the Northern Ireland international.

There is a lot of interest from clubs worldwide and in the UK, as evidenced by the statement that they are all monitoring his status at Ibrox as the summer approaches.

According to the Daily Record, McCausland is eager to stay at Rangers and participate in Martin’s initiative, but the Scottish head coach may consider other offers for the academy graduate.

The attacker’s future is still uncertain because it discloses that the former Norwich City center-back is still evaluating the team and that no final choices have been taken.

Rangers must, however, capitalize on the high degree of interest in McCauland this summer, as five teams are vying for his services.

Why McCausland’s sale is just as crucial as Propper’s

Since Propper failed to live up to expectations on the field and the Light Blues need to improve their strength and talent in that area of the park in order to succeed under Martin next season, it is wise to sell him.

Since establishing himself as a first-team regular under Philippe Clement in 2023, McCausland has not demonstrated his ability to be a vital member of the Scottish powerhouses in the future.

The 21-year-old attacker has not performed well enough in the final third, while occasionally displaying some promise, such as when he scored his maiden goal for the team in the Europa League in the video above.

As of right now, McCausland has three goals and six assists in 44 Premiership games and seven goals and seven assists in 66 first-team games across all competitions.

The Northern Irish dude finished the 2024–25 season with as many red cards as goal contributions, although he had no goals to show for his efforts in the league, as the table above illustrates.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig previously called McCausland a “explosive” player, but since he burst onto the first-team scene at Ibrox, he hasn’t proven himself. From being a promising young player, the winger is now simply another guy that needs to be replaced, much like Propper.

Simply stated, the Gers academy graduate’s lack of final product in the Premiership in particular indicates that he does not provide enough in front of goal to be a crucial attacking player for Martin going ahead, which is why selling him is just as crucial as selling Propper.

In the summer transfer window, the new Rangers manager may be able to replace him with another winger in the hopes that the new player would provide more goals and assists to help the team earn crucial points going ahead.

However, it is now up to Martin and Kevin Thelwell to consider bids and collaborate with the interested parties to choose the best course of action for everyone.
