Following Tottenham’s dismissal, Ange Postecoglou is predicted to start a new position right away

It has been predicted that Ange Postecoglou will be the next manager of Scotland, replacing Steve Clarke.

Despite leading Tottenham to Europa League glory, the Australian was fired as manager last Friday, leaving him without a job.

Spurs lost a staggering 22 league games under Postecoglou‘s leadership, finishing only one spot above the bottom three. Nevertheless, the 59-year-old did no harm to his reputation when he defeated Manchester United in Bilbao last month, ending Tottenham’s 17-year trophy drought. With a return to Scottish football already being discussed, Postecoglou will undoubtedly attract suitors as a result of the victory.

Between 2021 and 2023, he managed Celtic for two years, winning five trophies, including consecutive Scottish Premier League crowns. In his final season, he completed the domestic Treble.

Clarke, the current manager of Scotland, has little over a year left on his present contract, which will keep him in place until the conclusion of the World Cup the following year. Promotion After leading his team to Euro 2020 qualification last year—their first major tournament appearance since the 1998 World Cup—Clarke, who has been in the position since 2019, delighted supporters. Although he qualified for Euro 2024 to support his heroics, this contract is probably his last.

Former striker Ally McCoist thinks Postecoglou would be a more than capable alternative for Clarke when discussing Scotland’s next step on talkSPORT.

Ally McCoist

“He would definitely do me.” It wouldn’t bother me in the least. “He’s successful,” McCoist remarked. ” “Steve Clarke has performed admirably for Scotland, and we’re hoping he can help us win the [World Cup] qualifying matches against Belarus, Denmark, and Greece.

According to the former Rangers star, “it’s a good group for us.” If you’re asking me if I would mind Big Ange leading the national team, I would say that we have a strong chance of performing well in the qualifiers. There wouldn’t be any issues for me. Despite Postecoglou‘s recent dismissal, McCoist has remained supportive of him, with Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, taking over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After winning the illusive trophy, there was disagreement among fans about whether the Australian should have been handed a third season in the dugout.

McCoist was adamantly in favour of the “Ange in” camp, saying that despite the league season’s shortcomings, there were more things to be happy about than negative ones. To tell the truth, I don’t believe that getting rid of Ange was the proper choice. That’s what I would say initially. I completely understand that the league position is unacceptable.

“But, Jeff, I thought he made it very evident towards the conclusion of the season that he threw all his eggs in one basket. I believe he also had bad luck with injuries,” McCoist continued. Having said that, the league’s performance was either below or much below adequate. I recognise that. But for me, the benefits greatly exceed the drawbacks.

Ange Postecoglou

“You know, to get them into the Champions League next year and win a European trophy, the first trophy in seventeen years, the first European trophy in I don’t know how many years.” At the very least, I believed it gave him enough bank credit to keep his work. That is obviously not the case. Thomas Frank, in my opinion, has demonstrated his abilities as a manager and coach at Brentford. I can see that taking place, and I can see him going on to Tottenham, which is undoubtedly a bigger club.

“I still think it’s harsh on big Ange, I really do, but I think he’s probably due his chance and opportunity with the job he’s done.”
