Manchester United Targeting ‘Top Talent’ Duo From Premier League Rivals

Manchester United Monitoring Crystal Palace Stars Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton Amid Summer Overhaul

Manchester United have reportedly expressed interest in signing Crystal Palace duo Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton ahead of the summer transfer window, according to ESPN.

The Red Devils have added the two England internationals to their list of potential summer targets, although any move for the Selhurst Park pair is seen as uncertain at this stage. United’s failure to qualify for European competition next season—marking their first absence since 2014/15—could hinder their ability to both attract and finance top-tier signings.

While a major move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres appears off the table, United still view Eze and Wharton as valuable additions to bolster their midfield. However, both signings remain complicated, despite high internal admiration for the players.

United Eye Midfield Reinforcements as Rebuild Looms

Following a lacklustre domestic campaign, United are reportedly planning a major squad revamp under Ruben Amorim. The departures of senior figures such as Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf, and Jonny Evans will leave key gaps to fill. Eze and Wharton have emerged as primary midfield targets, while attackers Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap are also under consideration.

Eze, widely regarded as a “superstar,” enjoyed another standout season for Palace, netting 14 goals and delivering 11 assists in 43 matches. Although he was linked with a move last summer, his £60 million price tag deterred interested clubs. His current contract runs until June 2027.

Wharton, on the other hand, is considered one of England’s brightest young defensive midfielders. Palace are reluctant to let him go, and according to GIVEMESPORT, only a “massive” bid would convince the club to part ways with the 20-year-old, who also remains under contract at Selhurst Park for another four years.

United’s Season Under Amorim: A Mixed Bag

Ruben Amorim’s first season in charge produced inconsistent results:

  • Games: 42
  • Wins: 17
  • Draws: 8
  • Losses: 17
  • Points per game: 1.40

With significant changes on the horizon, United will need to act decisively in the transfer market to rebuild and compete effectively next season.
