28-year-old Tottenham midfielder to recieve a new contract- still in the club’s plans

As Spurs prepare for summer transfers, recent rumours suggest they are considering extending one midfielder’s contract.

Giovani Lo Celso

Tottenham have signed a slew of talented players in the last two transfer windows, including Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, and Timo Werner.

However, the club has had little outgoings in the past year, with the exception of the big Harry Kane deal and Harry Winks’ move to Leicester City.

Some players, such as Argentinian midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, have gotten little playing time this season, prompting concerns about their future under Ange Postecoglou.

Giovani Lo Celso

Lo Celso‘s future now appears to be much clearer, with TuttoMercatoWeb reporting that the club is interested in extending the player’s contract for another two years.

According to the outlet, the midfielder is “part of the English club’s plans for the future, and so negotiations could start soon for the renewal of the contract expiring in 2025.”

This season, the former PSG player has made 20 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists (Transfermarkt). He’s had to compete for playing time against the favourite in the attacking midfield position, James Maddison.

Pape Matar Sarr has also been a regular in the centre position, and with ties to Chelsea‘s Conor Gallagher in recent months, Lo Celso‘s future has been mostly uncertain until recently.

Though no formal extension to his contract appears to have been negotiated, Lo Celso may still have a future in North London if the recent claims are accurate, providing Ange with a viable attacking option after Maddison.
