A West Bromwich Albion player is being considered by a European club for next season

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Bologna have recently scouted West Brom defender Torbjørn Heggem.

West Brom may have to fend off interest in the centre-back this summer. WBA is preparing for another year in the Championship.

Heggem, 26, joined the Baggies last summer. He signed a three-year contract that expires in June 2027 and has been a huge success.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Bologna has recently been watching him on international duty with Norway. This past season, the Serie A side finished ninth in the table.

After joining the Hawthorns a year ago, he told the club’s website, “It feels really good to be here.” English football has always been the most popular in Norway. To play in England is a dream for any child growing up there, and I want to accomplish it now that I have signed. I’m really looking forward to that.

“I’m very thrilled that everything transpired so swiftly. I didn’t think about it too much; I just knew that was the correct thing to do from the outset. I believe the head coach is really ambitious. He was telling me about his training ideas and how he plans to coach.”

West Brom’s latest on Torbjørn Heggem

West Brom‘s decision to sign Heggem has worked out well. He has adjusted well to life in his new nation, making 45 appearances across all competitions during his first term.

The left-sided defender has strengthened their defensive lineup. He has fit in well with their starting XI and will be looking for more minutes next season under Mason.

Prior to joining the Baggies, Heggem spent a year with IF Brommapojkarna in the Allsvenskan. The Trondheim native began his career at Rosenborg Academy and worked his way up. He then spent a few of years at Sandnes Ulf, playing 65 games in all.

What’s next for West Brom and Torbjørn Heggem?
West Brom will try to keep hold of Heggem for as long as possible. It remains to be seen whether Bologna would make a formal move for the WBA ace.

The Baggies are looking forward to a new era under Ryan Mason‘s leadership. The 33-year-old has been named their replacement for Tony Mowbray and has signed a three-year contract.

They have the opportunity to bring in several fresh signings over the next few months. Mason also has the option of allowing certain players to go through the exit door to free up additional room and finances for reinforcements. Grady Diangana, Semi Ajayi, and John Swift have already departed.
