Wolves are close to securing ‘excellent’ long-term Leeds target, almost joined by Marcelo Bielsa

Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to signing a striker who has long been linked with a move to Leeds United and almost arrived under Marcelo Bielsa.

Wolves are looking for a striker as manager Gary O’Neil seeks to add additional firepower in the final third following a successful Premier League season at Molineux, and he intends to strike early.

Leeds could possibly be looking for a new striker, as Joel Piroe’s form is unclear. Despite this, Piroe sent a rallying plea to fans on Instagram on Wednesday, ahead of the semi-final second leg.

Leeds has impressed at times, and his value to the Leeds team is undeniable, but his injury troubles persist.

Mateo Joseph is a true talent, but at this point, he is more of a future player.

The Whites are expected to be in the market for a striker this summer, and one player they have been linked with is Scotland and Southampton’s Che Adams, whose contract is about to expire.

Leeds have been believed to be interested in Adams ahead of the summer transfer season, and they have previously been linked. However, it appears that Wolves are preparing to make a move:

Adams has had a fantastic season for Russell Martin’s Southampton this season, scoring 17 goals and providing six assists as the Saints aim to win the play-offs at Leeds’ cost and return to the Premier League.

However, his long-term future is uncertain due to his contractual predicament. The notion was that promotion would determine whether he signed a new contract with St. Mary’s, but sources currently suggest he will join Wolves.

Ben Jacobs stated on X that Wolves are in advanced talks to sign the Southampton forward on a free transfer, with Adams pushing to be fit for the second leg against West Brom on Friday.

His caption stated, “Wolves are in advanced talks with Che Adams. Adams’ contract with Southampton expires next month, and Wolves are searching for cost-effective ways to improve their attack.
