Cooper ‘might have one eye on’ a £10 million star at City Ground, according to Nottingham Forest.

This summer, Nottingham Forest may look to add to their defensive lineup at The City Ground.

According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, Nottingham Forest could be keeping “one eye on” Tottenham Hotspur center-back Davinson Sanchez at The City Ground in anticipation of a potential trade.

The summer transfer deadline of this Friday is getting closer, and Steve Cooper wants to strengthen his Tricky Trees team.

Davinson Sanchez is a transfer topic for Nottingham Forest.

Football Insider reports that Tottenham is eager to offload Sanchez before the end of the summer transfer window because the Colombian is entering the last year of his deal at Hotspur Way. Instead of losing him as a free agent in a year or lending him out, Spurs would prefer to sell him permanently.

The north London club would accept a bid of £10 million for the 27-year-old, who was on the verge of moving to Spartak Moscow for £12.9 million this summer but was hesitant to do so.

Prior to the transfer window’s closing weeks, the MailOnline reported earlier this month that Sanchez was “liked” by Nottingham Forest. And given Tottenham’s interest in signing Forest star Brennan Johnson this summer, that deal might come up again in the remaining days of the market. The Times reports that Tottenham is nearing a £50 million agreement to sign the Wales international.

In the meantime, talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook told GIVEMESPORT that Tottenham and Johnson have held negotiations and that Forest may demand at least £40 million. And given Forest’s recent interest in Sanchez, who was once called a “beast” by Mauricio Pochettino, there may be a chance for the two clubs to reach an understanding as the pair switch clubs this summer.

What has Bridge said regarding Sanchez and Nottingham Forest?

Bridge thinks that a traditional swap is unusual in football and that Forest and Spurs could talk about the two transfers separately.

When asked if a swap deal was likely, the Sky Sports reporter responded to GIVEMESPORT: “Sanchez has been mentioned, but from what I understand of Financial Fair Play, swaps and exchanges no longer occur in football. They resemble individual transfers, in my opinion.

For instance, when James Maddison joined Tottenham, Harry Winks was transferred to Leicester City by Tottenham. Although it was listed as a separate transfer, the clubs undoubtedly discussed and haggled over both deals. Therefore, I am confident that Cooper may be keeping an eye on Sanchez or another [player]. I’m not sure. But I have no doubt that both players will be mentioned.
