Flamengo’s president refers to Joao Gomes’ admission that Liverpool was his “dream” transfer as “false.”

Flamengo’s Joao Gomes, a midfielder, has recently been linked to Liverpool

Flamengo’s vice president has refuted recent transfer rumors surrounding Joao Gomes, who has been connected to Liverpool and is the subject of intensifying transfer speculation.

Recently, the Brazilian midfielder has been identified as a possible target for the Reds, and the player has admitted that a transfer to Anfield is something he “dreams” of as a professional footballer. To the joy of his current employers, Gomes recently signed an agreement with the club to extend his contract until 2027.

Rumors of one of Flamengo’s best players possibly leaving the club do not seem to have been warmly received as the team gets ready for next month’s vital Copa Libertadores final against rival Brazilian team Athletico Paranaense.

Flamengo’s vice president, Marcos Braz, told ESPN that there was “some discomfort, a relational problem,” as an explanation for the uproar around Gomes’ future. Speaking for myself and in my role as the vice president of the football section, I can say that my interactions with Joao Gomes have always been excellent.

Braz said that “There was no proposition for Jooo Gomes, and there was no consultation for him” in response to speculations of interest from rival clubs. Therefore, many myths concerning Joao Gomes have been circulated since the beginning of these renewal concerns. But if you ask me in the middle of the year if I think something will happen next year, I’ll say, “I guess.” Flamengo’s starting at the moment was chosen because of the player’s size, level of development, and current position.

The market should therefore examine this player carefully, but there is nothing. He is happy with the Flamengo board, and I have no doubt that he is thrilled with us. I am aware of the difficulties and critiques faced by fans, but sometimes they are ill-equipped to choose their positions.
