Frank’s top summer targets’revealed’ as Spurs look for Premier League experience

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly named Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo and Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo as their key summer targets.

Following Ange Postecoglou’s firing as Spurs‘ head coach, the club approached Thomas Frank to replace him, luring him away from Brentford.

Frank’s arrival has been enthusiastically received by supporters, particularly given his track record of nurturing stars, which bodes well for many of Tottenham’s young players.

However, if the Danish manager is to succeed where Postecoglou failed, he will require major backing during the summer transfer window.

According to the Mirror, Spurs want to bring Mbeumo to the club, but Bournemouth winger Semenyo may become a priority if they are unable to beat Manchester United to the former’s signature.

What does Tottenham need?
Semenyo may be a crucial addition given that Richarlison could be traded, and renowned attacker Son Heung-min has struggled to impact games as he has aged.

The 25-year-old can play throughout the forward line and would considerably boost the team, joining Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, and Mathys Tel.

It should be mentioned that Spurs scored 64 Premier League goals in 2024-25, the seventh highest total, yet their record is impressive given their frequent injury concerns.

Given that Tottenham conceded 65 goals in the league, the fifth poorest record in the division, Frank could be better off focusing resources on defensive strengthening.

While it may be argued that the team’s defensive problems would be less severe if they avoided another injury crisis in the backline, first-choice centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have not demonstrated their ability to stay fit.

In reality, the duo has missed a combined 62 Premier League games over the last two seasons, and it would be unwise to start the 2025-26 season with the same group of defenders.
