Gift Orban will cost £40 million at Tottenham.

After losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer, Tottenham Hotspur is looking for a striker and has Gift Orban in mind.

The 21-year-old is coming off of a successful season at KAA Gent, but Fulham is apparently also interested in signing him.According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Tottenham would have to shell out between £30 and £40 million for Orban, which may set a new transfer record for Belgium. The Lilywhites are well-off thanks to the £100 million they received for selling Kane. Fulham sold Aleksandar Mitrovic for £50 million, allowing them to purchase Orban as well.

The Nigerian striker made 24 appearances for Stabaek to start his career between 2022 and 2023, tallying 19 goals and seven assists. In just a few short months after joining Gent in January, Orban played in 28 games and notched 26 goals and two assists.Gent is under no obligation to pay out early because Orban has four years left on his contract. De Buffalo’s most expensive exiting player, if transferred this summer, would be Orban. Their previous record sale was Jonathan David to LOSC Lille in 2020–21 for €27 million (£23 million).

In Kane’s absence, Tottenham has Richarlison (three goals in 35 games), Heung-min Son (14 goals in 47 games), and Alejo Véliz (11 goals in 24 games), yet Orban (20 goals in 22 games) has outperformed all three. With one win and one draw through their first two games, Spurs have had a respectable start to the season, scoring four more goals than all but four Premier League clubs. Son, Richarlison, and Veliz, however, have failed to score.

Orban is in the best shape of his life as he has six goals in as many games for Gent this season. Tottenham and Fulham’s desire is understandable, but only time will tell where he ultimately ends up.
