Injury boost for Liverpool ahead of Manchester United showdown

As Liverpool prepares for Sunday’s FA Cup clash at Manchester United, the latest injury update from the AXA Training Centre provides some positive news for the Reds.

Following his recent injury setback in last Thursday’s 5-1 victory against Sparta Prague, defender Ibrahima Konate has been sighted returning to training, albeit apart from the main group.

Given that the Frenchman has yet to participate in team training, it is likely that he will miss Thursday’s Europa League last 16 return match. However, he could still participate in Sunday’s FA Cup match at Old Trafford.

So far, the exact nature of Konate‘s injury has remained unknown. He was removed after 51 minutes after undergoing on-field treatment at the epet ARENA for what seemed to be a hamstring injury.

Jurgen Klopp’s news conference to preview the 1-1 draw with Manchester City raised more questions than answers.
Speaking on Friday, he said: “Ibou was fairly upbeat last night; he thought he made the right decision at the appropriate time, stating it’s best I go [off]. Unfortunately, how we know does not signify much. He will be scanned, without a doubt, but I have yet to receive the results.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports’ Vinnie O’Connor gave an update on the health of the young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic.
The 19-year-old is still recovering from a long-term adductor injury that sidelined him since September. He has also been seen at the AXA Training Centre, where he is continuing his recuperation.

However, “Bajcetic still looks a long way from training with the first team,” O’Connor noted, implying persistent struggles.
Klopp stated in his most recent report on the Spaniard at the end of February: “He’s pain-free, absolutely pain-free, which is obviously the most important thing. All of the examinations we did, such as scans, showed that the bone looked good; everything was fine, and he was simply doing his job.”

The German then commented on the difficulties of getting Bajcetic back to full training, explaining: “You have to do it at great speed, slow down in a split second, and do again, these kind of things. We try as hard as we can to perform these things during rehab sessions, but you can’t put in ten or more players to simulate a full game setting.”
