Tottenham Hotspur did a lot of business in the summer transfer window, but this roster still has a few holes.
While Spurs completed the majority of their tasks, we can’t help but think that another center-back would have been beneficial, especially after they lost Davinson Sanchez after the deadline.
Fortunately, it appears that assistance is on its way. According to Alasdair Gold, appearing on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Tottenham will buy a new centre-back in January. Gold claims that Postecoglou wanted another new defender in the summer, and while that didn’t happen, Spurs are set to address this issue in January.
Incoming centre-back Gold revealed what he knows about the Spurs’ search for a new defender.
“With Sanchez, they have £12.8 million to spend on a new January signing.” Let’s be honest, they’re going to sign a new center-back in January. It’s something Postecoglou wanted this summer, it didn’t happen, it’ll happen in January, it has to,” Gold added.

It’s nice to hear that Spurs will be looking for a new center-half; the question now is, who will it be?
We’ve already heard that Max Kilman and Marc Guehi are respected at Spurs, and a deadline day bid was made for Lloyd Kelly, so perhaps those are just a few names to keep an eye on.
Spurs had a busy summer transfer window, but it appears that they are already planning for the winter season, and it appears that a new centre-half is at the top of their priority list.
