Leeds United are interested in Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien before the transfer window closes next week.
Despite being on the bench for the Reds’ opening game of the season against Arsenal, the maestro appears unlikely to make the Reds’ 25-man squad again.
Leeds are now ready to make a move, according to Alan Nixon of The Sun. The Whites have failed to win any of their first three Championship games, and Daniel Farke is eager for extra reinforcements.
Sheffield United were rumoured to be interested in O’Brien. Forest, on the other hand, will not do business with them since they perceive them as a side with a similar status to them in the Premier League this season.
Leeds‘ signing of O’Brien should not be too difficult. According to reports, they will have to spend £10 million to purchase him immediately, or take him on loan and commit to pay that price if they win promotion this season.
Forest signed the 24-year-old Huddersfield midfielder immediately after winning the play-offs. He appeared in 14 games throughout the first half of the 2022/23 season before being mysteriously dropped from the squad following the January transfer window.
Before he joined Forest, Carlos Corberan lauded O’Brien. He described him as’very remarkable’ since he served as an inspiration during Huddersfield’s run to the Championship Play-Off Final.
Forest’s O’Brien is wanted by Leeds.
This summer, the Whites will have some cash to play with. They have now been taken over by new owners, and numerous star players have already left the club.
Farke will be eager for the transfer window to close. Every day, it appears that another team is interested in signing one of his players.
He now appears to be interested in signing O’Brien. Forest are also looking for a midfielder and may wait until they find one before letting him go.
It’s a shame that O’Brien didn’t have another chance at Forest. Ultimately, the club is looking for a higher quality player in that position, and now may be the moment to recoup their investment in the midfielder.
