Leeds United are running out of time after Facundo Buonanotte proved to be yet another transfer flop.

As another day of the transfer window passed, Leeds United supporters faced yet another day of misery with nothing happening.

While their Championship opponents continue to strengthen, the Whites have failed to sign any new players, and the clock is ticking down to the 11pm deadline on September 1.

Daniel Farke‘s side is in desperate need of a new number 10 and another forward, not to mention the impending exits of Wilfried Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra.

Leeds fans would have been pleased to learn late on Monday [21 August] that brilliant Brighton and Hove Albion playmaker Facundo Buonanotte was reportedly on his way to the club [Bruno Gonzalez Garcia].

Those rumours, however, were quickly debunked by Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, who revealed on Tuesday [22 August] that Leeds have yet to make a play for the Brighton ace.

Following that, Sky Sports reported that the Whites are interested in Genk attacker Joseph Paintsil, who has also been linked with Swansea City striker Joel Piroe [Wales Online].

All three players, particularly the latter, would significantly strengthen Leeds‘ attacking ranks. The main concern, though, is that no transactions appear to be moving forward.

United have done well in bringing in players such as Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, and Sam Byram, but they must sign a player or two further up the pitch before it is too late.

After all, if they had a real quality player on the ball in the final third against West Brom, the 1-1 draw would very probably have resulted in a routine victory.

Farke will continue to work with what he has for the time being, but an actual contract would give the German and the Leeds faithful a great boost.
