Leeds United boss Daniel Farke delivers optimistic reports on Patrick Bamford and Ethan Ampadu ahead of Hull City game – and what about Junior Firpo?

LEEDS UNITED manager Daniel Farke believes Patrick Bamford’s return to first-team training is a’major boost’ for the club.

But, he will not play against Yorkshire rivals Hull City on Wednesday night.

Due to a hamstring injury, Bamford has yet to play this season, although he returned to training on Monday.

United are going to be cautious with the forward this week, and he is also unlikely to play in Saturday’s home encounter against Watford as he works on his fitness.

Meanwhile, Farke has stated that he expects midfielder Ethan Ampadu to be healthy for the Tigers’ trip and to recover from a knock suffered in Sunday’s excellent win over Millwall.

“The good news is that Patrick joined us yesterday (Monday),” Farke remarked. It was his first return to tram training.

“Clearly, the games this week come a little too soon for him after being out for about eight weeks.” But it’s unquestionably wonderful news and a significant lift for us.

“You are theoretically available once you return to team training.” But keep in mind that he was gone for eight weeks.

“He is back in team training and could be available if there is an emergency case or something like this or we have a special idea.” But he’s not in my plans for the (Hull) game because with only one training session, I think we need to be cautious.”

“He got a knock and it’s always the same when there’s a quick turnaround, there are some question marks as in every football game, there are some knocks and bruises,” he added of Ampadu. It doesn’t appear to be that awful and has greatly improved in the last 24 hours.

“Junior is still training individually,” the German said of Junior Firpo (knee), adding, “and we hope that he can return to team training as soon as possible.”
