Leeds United want to sign a’superstar in the making’ midfielder for £9 million.

Leeds United, along with numerous other clubs, are apparently interested in Burnley’s Josh Brownhill.

Central midfield is perhaps Daniel Farke‘s team’s weakest link right now. If Tyler Adams leaves Leeds, Farke‘s need to reinforce his midfield ranks will be even greater. With that in mind, the Whites have a good chance of bringing a quality midfielder to Elland Road before September. Leeds are interested in Brownhill, whose future with the Clarets is unknown, according to TEAMtalk.

The 27-year-old’s contract expires next summer, and no renewal has been agreed upon. With that in mind, a split “looks increasingly likely” before the window closes on September 1.

‘Unbelievable’

“First and foremost, Josh is just an unbelievable lad,” Johnson remarked in 2019, according to the Bristol Post.

“He’s been a very good student, and I took him on loan to Barnsley because I saw a future superstar in him.”

“He can tackle, he can get up and down, and he has a football brain.”

“He has a goal in him, good set-piece delivery, and free kicks from the edge of the box.”

“He’s the first in and the last out, and he comes in every day to improve.”

“He must go down as one of Bristol City‘s most valuable signings.”

Brownhill has been a valuable asset to Burnley since his projected £9 million transfer in 2020.

Brownhill would be an excellent signing for a Leeds side looking to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

He has extensive experience in both the Premier League and the Championship, and he is still in his prime at the age of 27.

Brownhill was quite impressive in the second tier last season, with seven goals and eight assists.

Last season, the all-round midfielder had more goal involvements than any other current teammate.

According to the Premier League website, Brownhill led the squad with 72 vital passes, while his 57 shots were fourth.

When Brownhill was at Bristol City, former manager Lee Johnson gushed about him, saying he looked like a potential star.

If he does depart, any club that signs him will be extremely fortunate. Will Leeds reap the benefits?
