Must sign: “terrific” 21-year-old striker up for sale means Leeds United must be on high alert – View

The availability of Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer should be made known to Leeds United, who are in need of a striker this summer.

To be considered prepared for the remainder of the season, the Whites have a lot of work to do on the transfer market, with outgoings dominating the conversation so far.

Leeds will soon have a lot more money to play with for Daniel Farke as a result of Tyler Adams departing for Chelsea for £20 million and Willy Gnonto trying to force a transfer.

The striker Leeds needs is

Perhaps it is simpler to identify the jobs where Farke does not currently require hiring, which is largely limited to goal where his team appears to be properly covered at this time.
The German took over a group of gifted strikers, but the assault lacks focus to begin the season as Patrick Bamford continues to nursing an injury and is joined on the sidelines by Georginio Rutter and Mateo Joseph.

Given the clear necessity for a fresh signing at the top of the pitch, links to strikers haven’t exactly been hard to come by.

Is Cameron Archer on the market?

When it comes to strikers who have lately excelled in the Championship, the obvious names stick out, namely Joel Piroe of Swansea City.

Cameron Archer, who played for Middlesbrough last season under Michale Carrick and spent the second half of the campaign on loan from Aston Villa, was a fantastic and merciless finisher.

The Villans have now put the 21-year-old up for sale as they prepare for their trip to Europe, so David Ornstein reports that serious offers will be considered.

The teenage striker has already completed two very successful loan spells in the Championship and is in need of a permanent home as Villa appear unwilling to give him the opportunity. Leeds should be first in line with a generous bid.

Archer‘s incredible season was finished off by two goals and an assist for England at the Under-21 European Championships. In just 22 games, he helped lead Boro to a top-six finish with 11 goals and six assists.

In order to push the top two later in the season, Archer, a clinical finisher in the box, was a key component in Middlesbrough‘s promotion push from the previous season. Carrick lavished praise on the striker following a brace away at Sheffield United (via the Northern Echo):

He’s a great young man who adapted quickly and likes it here, so credit to him. He’s an important member of the team, and I thought his movement and finishing were both great.

He is clever and smart. Despite being a little bit smaller, he makes excellent use of his physique in his link-up play and overall game. Overall, he gave a pretty strong performance, and achieving his goals gave him a huge confidence boost.

Although it is unknown how much he is worth, the Villans appear content to cash in given the “number of suitors” who have expressed interest.
