Phil Hay claims that Leeds United’s star could sign a surprise new contract; his agent’s desire for a permanent move.

According to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, Jamie Shackleton might be offered a new contract at Leeds United following his surprise return to the fold at Elland Road this season – following the arrival of manager Daniel Farke.

Shackleton, 23, has started six of our seven games this season and is poised to start against Millwall on Sunday, with Junior Firpo and Sam Byram still out due to injury.

His return to Leeds comes as something of a surprise after spending last season on loan at Millwall, where he struggled to make an impact. In April, his agent stated that he would try to locate him a new club.

A permanent exit was anticipated. Especially since Shackleton‘s existing lease at Elland Road expires in June 2024. Having starred this season, Hay believes Shackleton will get a new contract.

Shackleton, who turns 24 in less than a month, is in the final year of his contract,” Hay wrote. The club has yet to offer him a contract renewal, however Farke is expected to initiate talks.”

Leeds United could offer Shackleton a new contract.

Shackleton has been outstanding. Not to mention, he has been brilliant in pre-season and when given the opportunity – but he has done so in a variety of positions. Right back, left back, central midfield, and right wing are the positions available.

Incredible. If he wasn’t already the new Stuart Dallas. The soon-to-be-father is the type of player who should be kept at least until the end of the season. A new contract is well merited.
