Reports: Leeds rejected a £25 million deal from Borussia Dortmund for the 21-year-old earlier this summer.

Earlier this summer, Leeds United turned down a massive £25 million bid from Borussia Dortmund for Georginio Rutter.

According to Sky Sports, Leeds rejected the Champions League club’s advances because they would only consider selling him if they could return their investment.

In January, the Whites shattered their transfer record by signing Rutter from Hoffenheim for about £35 million.

The 21-year-old flourished in the Bundesliga, and Dortmund were interested in bringing him back to Germany just a few months after his debut in England.

At this point, it is unclear whether Dortmund intends to make another bid for Rutter before Friday’s deadline, albeit it would require a large increase above their initial offering.

Leeds rejected Dortmund’s £25 million bid for Rutter.
As previously said, Leeds would only allow Rutter to leave if possible suitors are willing to match what was invested earlier this year.

Lyon are now looking at a trade for Rutter if wantaway winger Bradley Barcola leaves before the deadline, according to the same report.

A major sticking point in the deal is that Lyon would have to break their transfer record to fulfil Leeds’ asking fee.

It would be a travesty for Leeds to lose Rutter this late in the transfer window after he demonstrated his worth in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Ipswich Town.

Rutter scored his first goal for the club in the game, and it is believed that this would serve as a springboard for his Leeds career.
