Reports: Vincent Kompany wants to sign a Leeds youngster for Burnley.

Willy Gnonto is interested in joining Burnley, according to Vincent Kompany, as Leeds United face a tense few weeks waiting to learn whether they can keep the Italy international.

According to The Telegraph, the Clarets are competing with Everton for the 19-year-old midfielder, who has impressed since moving to Elland Road.

Willy Gnonto‘s performance for Leeds against Cardiff City on Sunday fanned the appetite for what he may potentially do in the Championship. While he did not score, some of his touches were exquisite. And he almost scored another stunning goal against the Bluebirds.

Gnonto is wanted by Burnley.

That performance, though, is unlikely to have done Leeds many favours in terms of potentially keeping Gnonto beyond the end of the current transfer window.

According to the Telegraph, Burnley are fans of the teenager.

The good news is that Gnonto’s relocation is not imminent, according to the article.

If Leeds can keep Gnonto, it will be a tremendous boost for Daniel Farke. This season, he has the potential to take the league by storm. And, obviously, he would be worth a lot more to the club if he left when we were in the Premier League.

However, he will be aware that participating in the Championship will have little impact on his chances of remaining in the Italy squad. And the European Championships are coming up at the end of the season.

Since his arrival, Kompany has altered people’s impressions of Burnley. And if his approach is effective in the Premier League, many players will be enticed to join him at Turf Moor.

Hopefully, Gnonto is not one of those who is lured by a possible move in the coming weeks.
