Spurs attempt to sabotage West Ham’s transfer for Julen Lopetegui’s top target

Spurs attempted to hijack West Ham’s pursuit of Julen Lopetegui, who is their top summer transfer target, and now the Hammers are reeling.

Tim Steidten, the technical director of West Ham, has been putting in a lot of effort behind the scenes to sign players for head coach Julen Lopetegui.

However, Tottenham Hotspur may be about to ruin some of their hard work during the summer window.

Undoubtedly, much effort is required to enhance the teams that West Ham‘s new manager Lopetegui and his Spurs counterpart Ange Postecoglou have at their disposal.

To dispel any questions regarding the necessity of summer makeovers for West Ham and Tottenham, one need simply examine their respective records in 2024.

Between West Ham and Tottenham, there is no love.

Whether it be amongst supporters who vehemently despise one another on social media or on the terraces.

Spurs and Hammers compete for deals
Perhaps in the boardroom, where there is an unofficial transfer embargo between the two teams because Daniel Levy broke his promise to send Emmanuel Adebayor to West Ham.

Naturally, the fight over the former Olympic Stadium followed, during which Levy and Hammers vice-chair Karren Brady’s bond was shattered by a spying scandal.

The mutual interest of West Ham and Tottenham in a number of players, including Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, has previously been established.

But up front is where West Ham and Tottenham need to focus their attention.

It has been revealed that West Ham discussed moving to the London Stadium with Dominic Solanke’s family.

Then, last month, Tottenham unexpectedly entered the picture by expressing their own interest.
Spurs are now trying to snoop on a West Ham effort to acquire Lopetegui’s top target.
Spurs attempt to sabotage West Ham’s En-Nesyri move

We said on Sunday that West Ham was set to make an all-out move to acquire Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

En-Nesyri was the striker’s name on a list of targets Lopetegui gave to West Ham during his interview, as Hammers News exclusively disclosed last month.

The Spanish media reported on Sunday that a £17 million agreement to sign the Moroccan to play for West Ham was in the works.

Tottenham, though, appears committed to upsetting West Ham’s carefully thought-out preparations.

As stated on Carrusel Deportivo, Santi Ortega of Radio Sevilla claims that there has been “a lot of movement around En-Nesyri’s future.”

That occurs in the midst of Tottenham entering the race and “pushing hard” to sign the 27-year-old striker ahead of West Ham.

Due to competing interest, Sevilla is now attempting to secure £25 million for En-Nesyri.

Sevilla wants a speedy deal.
Tottenham can provide European football. While West Ham does not, for the first time in four seasons, En-Nesyri does.

When it comes to signing the 20-goal star, Spurs may have a significant advantage over the Hammers.

En-Nyesri, meanwhile, is a pure striker and might see more action at West Ham than Tottenham.

In their final season match, En-Nesyri was spotted bidding a tearful farewell to Sevilla. Rumour has it that he was waving goodbye in anticipation of a move to West Ham.

He is undoubtedly departing, but it appears that he may be going to Tottenham, West Ham’s fiercest rivals.

That would put Steidten under much greater strain in addition to Lopetegui’s already mounting pressure to get players to travel to Brazil.

Sevilla must close a deal by June 30th in order to avoid sanctions, so they need to move quickly.

So, the time it takes to find out who wins the race won’t be too long.
