The summer transfer window is quickly approaching, and Tottenham Hotspur, who were one of the few Premier League clubs to spend in January, appear to be in position to make another move.

Ange Postecoglou has had a reasonably successful first season in command of the Lilywhites. However, without Harry Kane in the squad, goals have been more difficult to come by, as indicated by the club’s ranking as the league’s seventh best offensive.

According to the source, the Lilywhites, as well as Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United, are interested in signing the Brazilian forward.

According to the article, the 24-year-old’s strong form and consequent interest from English sides mean that the Dragões are optimistic of securing a sum in the area of €100 million (about £86 million).

This would be an unquestionably large expenditure by Daniel Levy and company, but given the forward’s superb performances this season, it could be worthwhile, especially if it allows Son to return to his best position.

How Evanilson compares with Son

Furthermore, adding the Fortaleza-born striker would allow Postecoglou to start the Lilywhites’ star on the left and put Richarlison, who has only 12 goals this season, on the bench.

Finally, while the South Korean may not be as explosive as he was a few years ago, he has proven to be successful out wide.

For example, FBref, which compares players in similar positions across Europe’s top five leagues, ranks the veteran in the top 1% of wingers for expected assists, the top 5% for non-penalty goals and non-penalty expected goals plus assists, the top 9% for pass completion, the top 10% for touches in the opposing penalty area and the top 14% for assists, all per 90 minutes.

Finally, while the price will undoubtedly be a consideration for the club, adding Evanilson would be a significant upgrade on Son as a traditional number nine while also allowing the 31-year-old to reclaim his left wing form.
