Star Sends ‘Felt Wanted’ Message Following Leeds United Exit

Charlie Cresswell has explained why he left Leeds United for Toulouse, saying the French club made him feel desired.

Leeds allowed Cresswell to leave for Toulouse for a fee of roughly £3.8 million, and he completed the transfer on Monday.

It concludes the centre-back’s long affiliation with Leeds, where he began his career in the youth ranks.

Cresswell, however, did not impress current Whites manager Daniel Farke, and claimed that the most significant aspect of joining Toulouse was that he ‘felt desired’ by the club.

“I felt wanted by the club, and they worked hard internally to sign me,” he told Toulouse’s official website.

“They helped me realise that I might be an integral part of this initiative.

“A project that promises to be very ambitious, that’s what I liked about it too!”

The defender acknowledges he has strong sentiments for Leeds, but insists that after being continually overlooked last season, it was time for him to leave.

“This club means a lot. Leeds is a family affair for me; my father used to play there. I made my debut there, rose through the ranks, and still have all of my pals,” he remarked.

“But it was time for me to leave, especially after last season, when I wished I had had more playing time.”

“I’m concentrating on Toulouse now.”

Cresswell will want to ensure that he plays in the French top division with Toulouse on a consistent basis.
