“The whispers that have leaked out”: 44-year-old “doesn’t fit” in Liverpool, according to a journalist

Roberto De Zerbi, who was reportedly in the running, may not be the best choice for Liverpool as they continue to look for a new manager to take over for Jurgen Klopp.

Journalist Dean Jones has intimated that De Zerbi might not be the right fit for Liverpool right now and that the team is looking at other options, such as Arne Slot from Feyenoord.

De Zerbi in particular isn’t the right fit for the Reds, according to Jones, who reported on the Dutch manager’s potential to succeed Klopp.

He stated to Give Me Sport: “Slot is a new name, but others who have been in and around the conversation and still haven’t nailed themselves to new jobs are De Zerbi and Thiago Motta.”According to the rumours that have surfaced, De Zerbi doesn’t fit right now. However, once Alonso, Nagelsmann, and Amorim stop talking, you have to wonder where this could go.

Observing Liverpool’s pursuit of managers is starting to worry me a little.
When David Ornstein of the Athletic announced on Monday that Amorim is unlikely to be the next manager in the Anfield hot seat, it completely changed the narrative around Liverpool’s pursuit of a manager.

Following Klopp’s announcement that he intended to leave at the end of the 2023–2024 season, Liverpool is looking to the future with this disclosure.

De Zerbi’s possible candidature seemed doubtful because of his managerial style or other undisclosed issues, especially since there were other well-known applicants associated to the position.

In spite of the rumours surrounding his candidature, Dean Jones’ remarks imply Liverpool may be looking into other options.
Jamie Carragher, a football pundit and former Liverpool defender, recently hinted that De Zerbi was one of the front-runners for the Liverpool job when he was at Bournemouth because Richard Hughes, the new sporting director, had expressed interest in him.

Carragher stated: “If this is true, De Zerbi must be the favourite because Richard Hughes wanted him at Bournemouth.” To be fair, Ornstein doesn’t make many mistakes.”

Even with Carragher‘s comments and De Zerbi’s achievements at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he had a big influence, rumours that he didn’t fit Liverpool’s mould suggest that the club’s recruitment approach has changed.

Liverpool fans may be drawn to De Zerbi’s offensive style and Premier League accomplishments, but it seems the club’s board is focusing on individuals who share its long-term goals more.

Names like Arne Slot and Thiago Motta are still being discussed as Liverpool looks for a new manager. Given the degree of uncertainty surrounding the search, Liverpool’s ultimate choice will be indicative of the path the team plans to follow in the wake of the Klopp period.

It’s unclear if Liverpool will look for a new manager to guide them into the upcoming chapter or if De Zerbi’s name will surface again in the upcoming weeks.
