This afternoon, Tottenham fans were given to an unexpected and fairly under-the-radar Rodrigo Bentancur update, with Sky Sports’ Football Daily posting training videos.
With the foreign players having returned to their respective assignments, the videos focused on Brennan Johnson‘s first outing with his teammates and Heung-min Son training despite injury concerns.
Some keen Spurs supporters may have observed a certain Mr Rodrigo Bentancur taking part in outside drills for the first time since sustaining an ACL injury against Leicester City in February.
Bentancur is back on the turf for the first time in a long time.
Ange Postecoglou recently indicated that Bentancur is keen to return to the field, but that he would not be able to do so until November.
The Uruguayan looks to have persuaded the Spurs’ medical staff to allow him to participate in some basic warm-up routines with the rest of the team.
Having Bentancur in that three-man midfield to contend with Maddison, Sarr, and Bissouma immediately strengthens Spurs. I believe he can play any of the three positions, which is useful for Postecoglou.
