Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou wants to bring former West Ham United winger Felipe Anderson back to the Premier League.
That is according to TV Play, which has observed Tottenham‘s difficulties in completing a deal during the January transfer window.
So, what is the latest on Tottenham Hotspur and Felipe Anderson? Let us find out.
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Felipe Anderson.
According to TV Play, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Lazio winger Felipe Anderson. According to the Italian news outlet, Spurs have made contact over a prospective move.
However, there are two roadblocks. Anderson, who is out of contract at Lazio at the end of the season, is being pursued by AC Milan and Juventus.
Milan want to sign him in the January transfer window, while Juventus want to sign him as a free agent in 2024.
Second, in the middle of the season, Lazio might seek up to €20 million (£17.18 million) in transfer fees for the 30-year-old.
This season, Anderson has made 13 starts and two substitute appearances in Serie A. In those games, the Brazilian has one goal and five assists.
Tottenham should avoid signing Felipe Anderson, in my opinion.
Tottenham Hotspur, in my opinion, should not sign Felipe Anderson in the January transfer window or in the summer of 2024.
I believe Spurs should reconsider a prospective deal with the Brazilian after reviewing his experience at West Ham United.
Anderson struggled at West Ham and spent time on loan at FC Porto before joining Lazio for £2.6 million in 2021 (Sky Sports).
The Hammers paid Lazio £36 million for the Brazilian and then sold him at a significant loss to the Italian club.
In 63 Premier League games for West Ham, the winger scored 10 goals and provided eight assists.
Anderson is now 30 years old. Although I can see the appeal of signing such a player on a free transfer in the summer of 2024, I don’t see how he would improve or elevate Spurs to the next level.
Tottenham, in my opinion, would be better off paying a high transfer fee and bringing in a great mid-20s player who can develop and improve.
