Darwin Nunez’s antics while sitting on the Liverpool bench during yesterday night’s match the subject of speculation.

Darwin Nunez, a replacement for Liverpool’s game last night against Ajax, was observed acting a little detached.

Nunez started the Champions League match from the bench for the second time in a row. And from his seat behind Jurgen Klopp, the striker “frequently looked blankly at the pitch,” according to The Daily Mail.

At halftime, though, things apparently changed as he engaged in a rondo with James Milner and Fabio Carvalho.

With 25 minutes remaining, Nunez was subsequently brought into the fray. Even though he failed to score and squandered an excellent opportunity, he was animated during his brief presence.

Nunez is still awaiting ignition.

Darwin has had to practice patience so far during his brief stay in Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp has decided to gradually integrate the 23-year-old, as he has with other players in the past.

In a way, Klopp’s stance is understandable. Considering how poorly the club is performing right now, it could be a good idea to keep Nunez somewhat out of that situation.

After all, the Uruguayan is a long-term undertaking. There’s no reason to undermine his self-assurance by placing him in the center of a failing squad.

Liverpool also has other, more capable options now that Diogo Jota is well.

On the other hand, Nunez’s self-assurance can also suffer due to being left off the team. No matter how fleeting, his performances will be scrutinized given his high price tag.

He doesn’t have enough time to have an influence because he enters games late. Additionally, it indicates that he is having trouble getting into the right rhythm to understand what Klopp expects of him.

Darwin should therefore start a few games following the break for international play. He may not be perfect, but he has a fantastic knack for making defenders uncomfortable.

It seems appropriate to give Nunez a brief run now that Liverpool seems to have righted the ship. Let him demonstrate his abilities.
