‘He will still try to get out.’ – Pundit says £100,000 per week. Spurs player does not want to play for Ange

Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur have had an eventful season thus far in 2023/24.

The Australian quickly won over the Spurs fans with his straight-shooting off the pitch and his brand of play on it, and if not for a couple of disappointing results, the North Londoners would be almost guaranteed a Champions League spot next season.

Spurs are now in fifth position, six points behind Aston Villa, but the Lilywhites have two games in hand, and Villa still have to play in the Europa Conference League semi-finals, which could favour Tottenham.

Richarlison-Reguilon

Sergio Reguilon won’t stay at Tottenham- Pundit.

Postecoglou‘s trademark free-flowing football has been a joy to watch in his inaugural Premier League season, and it’s a style of play that encourages full-backs to move forward and function as additional strikers.

Sergio Reguilon enjoys this style of football, but he is currently on loan at Brentford after formerly playing for Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.

Clearly, he is not in the thoughts of the current Spurs management, and this has caused analyst Alan Hutton to speculate that the player may want to go if Brentford do not sign him, which The Athletic (subscription required) believes is improbable.

Sergio Reguilon

“It’s an interesting one, and I still think he’s a good player,” Hutton told the Tottenham News.

“He’s an attacking full-back who has gone out on loan and performed well. When you consider the current scenario, he’s a great candidate to come in and perform.

“There aren’t enough numbers in the style that Ange wants to play, so is it possible to bring him back into the fold? Is he going to be satisfied playing second fiddle? We know Udogie signed a tremendously long-term contract, so he’ll be there for a while and will be the go-to guy.

“Will Reguilon be content to play second fiddle or not? To be honest, I don’t think he will. I believe he will want to go elsewhere and play; that is his mindset.

Ange 2

“If he doesn’t go to Brentford because they can’t afford the deal or whatever, I think he’ll still look to try and get out in the summer.”

Even if Spurs only qualify for the Europa League as a consolation prize, Postecouglou will still need to add depth to his team.

To that end, it is possible that Reguilon will still play a role next season, even if he is not considered a first-choice.

Perhaps the Spaniard’s decision will simply depend on whatever team wants him the most. After all, athletes simply want to be on the pitch, and playing for the greatest names is not always conducive to a successful career.
