Diego Llorente was unwanted at Leeds United under Jesse Marsch and was loaned to AS Roma in January, where he eventually convinced José Mourinho.
This prompted all sides to want to make the agreement more permanent, albeit this never happened.
Instead, the centre-back, who was interviewed by Radio Radio and relayed by Siamo La Roma, ended up returning to Roma on another loan with a buy-back clause.
The Spaniard is overjoyed, as he plainly did not want to participate in the Championship with the Whites this season.
He was part of a huge exodus from the club, which also included Rasmus Kristensen, who joined him on loan from Leeds.
When asked if he hoped to negotiate a permanent contract with AS Roma, Llorente replied, “Yes, there were three parties involved.” Roma, Leeds, and myself. I wanted to stay here. A definite arrangement was not reached, but I’m not concerned because my desire was to return here.”
When asked if he believes Kristensen would contribute, he said, “He’s a very complete player who can give a lot defensively and offensively.” I’m confident he’ll be of great assistance to us. He has personality and a good physique. I think he’s a wonderful addition who will be useful.”
Now we must wait and see if the terms of the agreement between Leeds and Roma are met in order for Llorente to stay beyond the current season.
