Grady Diangana, a transfer target for Leeds United, has been left out of West Brom’s squad for the Elland Road clash.
According to the Express & Star, West Brom attacker Grady Diangana will be left out of the matchday squad to face Leeds United on Friday, August 18.
Diangana is expected to miss Friday’s game but could return to training next week ahead of his long-awaited comeback to Carlos Corberan‘s side, according to the UK daily (17 August).
Leeds have already been linked with the forward this summer, with CBS Journalist Ben Jacobs reporting [GIVEMESPORT, 6 August] that the Whites are one of several clubs interested in the 25-year-old winger after the Express & Star reported on 1 August that West Brom wanted around £7 million to sell him.
Diangana hasn’t played since a 2-0 loss to Middlesbrough in February due to a foot ailment that required two separate procedures but has made a quick recovery but is set to miss Friday’s important match between Leeds and West Brom, according to the Express and Star.
Moving in the summer?
Diangana‘s injury is a significant boost for West Bromwich Albion supporters, with Carlos Corberan battling with a reduced attacking armament after increasing his alternatives this summer.
However, with all the speculation surrounding Diangana‘s future this summer, and the Baggies in desperate need of finances, there’s still a chance the former West Ham United forward will depart the West Midlands for greener pastures.
Leeds United, who are in severe need of attacking reinforcements after whispers of Wilfried Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra, and Jack Harrison’s departure to Everton this week, could be enticed into a late summer transfer for Diangana.
Daniel Farke‘s side requires attacking quality if they are to contend near the top of the Championship, but they will be unable to do so if they do not add to their squad this summer.
Friday’s encounter will be another significant test for Farke‘s limited squad, but it might also serve as a stark reminder and wake-up call to Leeds United’s management that further additions are required if they are to achieve their Premier League promotion goals come May.
