Leeds United are still hoping to add three more players before the deadline after bringing in Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara, according to Dean Jones.
According to the former Eurosport journalist, arrivals in the next two days of the window might number five, with Ola Solbakken at Roma now on the cards as a late target and Luis Sinisterra’s prospective exit still very much alive.
Jones expected the two midfielders to arrive first, and the Whites confirmed the signings of Gruev and Kamara from Werder Bremen and Rangers, respectively, at various stages on Thursday.
“I was told up to five players would come in during these final couple of days, and that’s still the goal,” Jones added.
“A new name of interest is Solbakken, which has been registered with Roma, and there will be clarification tonight on whether it has potential.”
“I guess the one big uncertainty hanging over them is whether Sinisterra stays or goes, and my hunch is that there is still so much interest that the chance of a final day exit is still pretty high.”
Busy
If vital players like the Colombian winger leave at the eleventh hour, there is clearly a considerably larger need to keep bringing in new players, but strengthening in any case is always an option.
Willy Gnonto appears to be staying, and the wide attackers appear to be strong, but if any of the two, or Crysencio Summerville, is purchased for significant money on deadline day, that may change.
Solbakken would be a direct replacement, and it appears that the club is preparing for a possible exodus by contacting Roma, with whom they have already done business this summer on Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen.
Fans would love to see the Whites finally solve their problem position at left-back, as they have done at striker with the purchase of Joel Piroe.
However, the loss of Luke Thomas to Sheffield United has taken one possibility off the table, and it remains to be seen whether an alternative is on the cards, with Graham Smyth indicating that it isn’t.
With their inbound business beginning so late in the window, a hectic deadline day was always likely, and it appears that may still be the case, with more moves potential in both directions.
